v0.19.0: one survivor, and the people you find

  • Until now the group was two fixed people, one of them literally called "You". Both are gone. A run starts with one survivor who has a random name, a trade they did before all this, and the seven stats added last version. You are no longer one of the people in the house: you decide who does what, and everyone down there can be lost.
  • Alone is meant to feel thin. A day is now what the hands you have can get through — about five hours for one person — so on the first day you cannot both fortify the house and go looking for supplies. You have to pick.
  • You find other people. Somebody may be holed up in a building you scavenge, or already holding out alone in a place you move to. They join with their own name, trade and stats. Every person is another pair of hands and a longer day, and also another mouth at breakfast and a slightly bigger wave at night — a fuller house is heard from further off. Up to four.
  • The night was retuned around all of this: the wave starts smaller for one person and grows as the house fills. Over 60 seeds, most runs that last find at least one other person, and groups clearly outlive loners.
