Coming In Together

A party comes in together. Their leader talks to the hostess at the podium while the rest of the party stands beside them inside, instead of waiting out on the sidewalk.
Servers, the hostess, the busboy and a visiting cook turn to face the guest they're dealing with at a table: the one ordering, or whoever is nearest.
Guests take their time with the menu: 12 to 20 seconds before they're ready to order, instead of 4. Reading doesn't make them impatient; that only starts once they're ready and nobody has come.
