Everything Lines Up

The fridge's lid now sits on exactly the same line as the counter tops beside it, and its body starts where their wooden fronts do, so a counter run with an appliance in it reads as one continuous surface.
The picture above is why. Four rounds of rewriting the art brief in words — "the top is 106 pixels", "match the counter's height" — missed every time, always a few pixels high. Then we stopped describing the requirement and drew it: the counter's own art on the left, the piece we wanted on the right, and three magenta lines ruled straight across both at the heights where they have to meet.
Nothing about the requirement changed. Only the form did. A sentence gives a number to aim at and no way to check the aim; the drawing shows the two things touching, so being wrong is visible rather than arithmetic. The next round landed.
The second thing the picture does is give the game something to find. Because each piece is now drawn with a clear dark line where its top ends and where its front begins, the game can locate those two lines in any delivery and pull them onto the counter's exact heights as the art arrives. Art that carries its own reference points can be corrected automatically; art that merely aimed at a number can't.

The counters' front edge is squared off and its dark top line removed, so the stone runs straight into the edge and meets appliances cleanly.
