Traps on the approaches

  • A survivor can spend a morning laying a trap on one of the tiles the risen cross to reach the fire: a pit, caltrops, or a line of sharpened stakes. Each costs wood or scrap, adds to the camp's defense while it is armed, and lasts a set number of nights.
  • When the risen do break in, a trap springs instead of a wall coming down — which is what a trap is for. The walls only start falling once the approaches are spent.
  • Traps are dug into the ground you are standing on, so they stay behind when the camp moves on. One more thing to weigh on the morning you decide to leave.
  • Pick a tile next to the camp on the map and the day's task list offers the three kinds for that tile, so the list stays short.
  • Across 500 test runs the bot now founds a settlement in 32% of them, up from 31%, with nights breaking in a quarter less often. Version v0.0.26.
